Auction News: Profiles in history 43 “Water water everywhere…but not a drop to drink”

Hey Folks….you will notice this is a reprint of the original article I posted a few days ago. It was kind of written in a hurry, so Marc from “Profiles” kindly wrote and told me I had made a mistake. The sleigh is actually from “Miracle on 34th Street”. I thank Marc for writing in and agree with him that I was kind of harsh on the cover….as Austin Powers would say “its not my bag baby”. There were so many other cooler items that I would have LIKED to have been on the cover….but other than that I agree with the general opinions out there that it is an amazing catalogue for content.

Well here it is…the Christmas Profiles catalogue and boy oh boy is it choc full of stuff for you. The problem is…lets face it…how many of you fellow readers will even be able to afford any of this stuff. Aye…theres the rub!

So without further ado lets go few a few of these items and cross reference some of the pieces with information from the past.

First up…the cover. Sorry Profiles…that is THE WORST COVER YOU HAVE EVER DONE. Just saying. (edit…now I know what the thing is…its from “Miracle on 34th Street”….nah…still worst cover)

Heres some blurb from the start of the catalogue…..

We begin the sale with a fantastic collection of fine art photography, featuring an incredible archive of Ernest A. Bachrach portraits of Katharine Hepburn. In addition, we are offering one of the most important collections of original camera n egatives from the Golden Age of Hollywood to ever reach the auction block.
We proudly offer an incredible selection of items that sprung from the mind of visionary filmmaker, Tim Burton, including stop-motion puppets and artifacts from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, James and the Giant Peach, Sleepy Hollow and Mars Attacks!
Also offered is an unprecedented selection of pieces from the collections of Academy Award-winning visual effects geniuses, Phil Tippett, Stan Winston and Richard Edlund featuring pieces from such landmark films as Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Terminator, Jurassic Park and Edward Scissorhands.

Actually you know what…its all overpriced or under if you realise that Joe, the owner usually puts a 60% value on things to encourage people to bid. Go look at the catalogue yourself and we will have a deeper look when your done….

See you back here next week for a more indepth look!

Ok…for the two people who will write in and say..”no fair…show us some stuff” and don’t want to buy or download the catalogue…here is a page of cool pieces…yes I would buy them if I didn’t want to buy a new house. Check the price tags out for yourself, because you will never complain about dealer prices ever again……

The estimates on these few items alone are about $500,000...nuff said.
