The LOST auction causes bidder fatigue…..

So a number of people have told me this is unreadable….Im not sure if it was meant to be….its just my live thoughts and feelings from the event hastily scribbled down by keyboard and yes I did get bored and stop many times. Some of its harsh, some true…some I don’t believe what happened….heck…maybe we will never know what went down. So a little further down are my scratchings for all to see under the mini review.

All in all the event was a huge success to me. Many things came to light from having people who worked on the show who were open to talking about the differences in items, the tags and quantities. This information should have been available to the public bidding. My only real complaint. This led to rumour, confusion and misinformation being spread and could and should have been averted by having much more indepth catalogue listings.

The price of the Dharma prop water was seriously undervalued by selling $3.00 copies

What worked…almost everything!

The enthusiasm of the crew at “Profiles” and the amazing turn out which was because of the best publicity campaign in history for an auction. The catalogue which overall is still one of my favourites of all time…right next to the “Doctor Who:Bonhams” catagalogue of 1991 and the Christies “Trek” auction of 2006. High praise.

The bidding software was clumsy without sound and vision but worked until 12 hours in when the lights went out on it and we were only able to bid by phone, making items dramatically cheaper overall.  The IPHONE app worked perfectly though. Its only failure, not being able to confirm if an item was won after the listing ended if you missed the green WON icon.

It looked like those at the auction had a blast. I wonder if a few more better guests could have been brought but around the web people seem happy with the overall experience.

My day was one big whirlwind of sitting for long periods watching the screen….shouting for the auctioneer to end the bidding quicker. Onsite viewers did say the delay between the online component and the bidders in room made things sell for more….and I can only say that was frustrating but part of the game of the auction world.

Here are the final results from http://www.lostargs.com/2010/08/lost-auction-makes-2793600.html where it looks like the event took in two million dollars.

I will be posting my winnings over the next few months as they come in. I look forward to sharing with you…..

Some people have commented that this is unreadable….laughs. Its merely a stream of conciousness and thoughts about the event, live as it happened, including things I found online, pictures, feelings….its not really fit for publication. Yet…here it is.
